Welcome to the Recovered Dad

Oct 06, 2025

Ok, seems like a lot of the time this is the place where the author writes about who they are, and how they got here.

So here we go…

My name is Yeadon. I grew up in a cult. The one from the documentary, Shiny Happy People, season 1. Yup, you read that right.

Currently, I just turned 45.

I’ve been married for almost 20 years so far (20 years coming up in Dec 2025). I have four amazing children, all with bright red hair.

And I was trapped in the grip of pxrnography since I found a playboy magazine at a relative’s house when I was 8.

Then dial up internet.

Then high speed internet.

Then cell phones.

Then high speed internet on cell phones.

Yup, it got worse and worse.

Along the way, I quit a thousand times. And fell back down the same number.

Until I found recovery. And learned what was really going on inside me. Faced all the lies and demons and shadows head on.

And started working the recovery.

Now, I’m three years on the recovery road. I wish I could say I had a sober streak that long, but there are resets along the way. Even with those, I’m at 99%+ time sober.

Definitely winning.

I share my story because I was dying inside as a father. I was hopeless for myself. Terrified for my children. Disgusted with myself as a husband.

I felt so alone. Carrying the weight of the world for my family and slowly killing myself on the inside.

But not anymore. Recovery changed my life. And I can’t keep it to myself.

So now I’m writing and sharing what life is like in active recovery. The regular routines of life that happen over and over again. It’s different now that I am active in my recovery. And I hope you find some type of value here.

Follow along with me.
